Serigraph printed on paper, size: 47.75" x 35.75"
The (After) Glitch House print series is visually dynamic yet simple in nature, created through the action of organizing base geometry in the form of rectangles. Secondary embellishments, such as crescent shapes drawn from Young Projects' built work, Glitch House, create internal color separations between rectangular blocks. The techniques used in their composition are equally straightforward: dark fills suggest shadows, local occlusion is removed to highlight frontal planes, and changes in proportion introduce a sense of fluctuating depth accentuated by triangular shadows.
These prints oscillate between flat, planar patterns and three-dimensional figures on the page. Shifting figures appear and recede within the pattern itself, due to slippages of geometry that intersect and malfunction in the interplay of the shadow pass. The three prints play off each other’s geometric buildup to form new composite objects primarily through the proportions of distinct colors. This balance of differences and similarities allows each print to be read individually while also functioning cohesively as a set.
Young Projects is an award-winning architecture and design firm based in New York City, founded by Bryan Young. The firm's work spans many scales, always emphasizing making, material sensation, figuration, and spatial complexity; hybrids and ambiguity are embraced over singularity. Young Projects’ work has been widely published internationally and has received numerous prestigious awards.
The (After) Glitch House series was produced for the exhibition, Architectural Drawing #3, held at A83 in 2024.
Signed and numbered by Bryan Young in a limited edition of 15.

A83 Editions

A83 is a nonprofit organization with a tripartite mission to exhibit, publish, and promote experimental projects in architecture, art, and design. Building from the previous operation, John Nichols Printmakers & Publishers (1978 –1994), the organization continues to operate at the original location in SoHo as a printmaking studio, gallery, and growing archive. The 83 Grand Street location is used to produce exhibitions and installations, host workshops, and broadcast work to new audiences.
