The Canal + presentation drawings for Richard Meier’s proposal for the French media company’s headquarters in Paris. To represent the enameled steel facade, glazing, horizontal terraces, sun screens, and brise-soleils, JNP&P used a variety of materials embedded in the inks like varnish and metallic pigments. The building’s plan, coordinated with the elevation, is printed in light metallic ink, acting like an array of silver clouds above the prominent facade.

Richard Meier began his architectural practice in 1963 and quickly gained recognition with the Smith House in Darien, Connecticut, completed in 1967. In the early years of his career, Meier continued to design a series of bold and original residences, including the Douglas House in Harbor Springs, Michigan—added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2016 for its architectural significance. Over the decades, Meier expanded his practice globally, designing more than 130 projects that range from private homes to major civic and commercial buildings. His work includes iconic landmarks such as the Getty Center in Los Angeles, the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, and the Jubilee Church in Rome. Known for his distinctive modernist style, Meier has been widely honored, receiving the Pritzker Prize in 1984 along with numerous other prestigious awards, in recognition of a career dedicated to design excellence and architectural innovation.
